We know I love talking about things that bring positivity and growth into our lives. Today, let’s talk business. Specifically, Standard Operating Procedures, or SOPs, as they’re called. They’re not as glamorous as some of the topics we delve into, but oh, they are important!

I’ve heard from so many small business owners that they’re not using SOPs, and I’ve been asking: why not? Here are the top 10 reasons I’ve heard, and why we need to see things from a different perspective.

1. “My Team Won’t Like It”

Your team may resist at first – we all resist changes. But once they see how SOPs can make their jobs easier, they’ll be on board. Communication and understanding are key here.

2. “It Sounds Complicated”

I get it. Running a small business is already a huge task, and the idea of writing out processes for everything sounds overwhelming. But remember, Rome wasn’t built in a day. Start with one process and build from there.

3. “I’m Just Focusing on Growth”

So many of us are caught in the hustle, just trying to survive. But my loves, we aren’t here just to survive – we’re here to thrive! And SOPs can help your business do just that.

Oh, but there’s so much value! Think about it – when everyone knows exactly what to do and how to do it, tasks get done quicker, mistakes are reduced, and you can focus on the big picture.

If you’re feeling lost, remember – asking for help is a strength, not a weakness. Reach out to a business mentor or consultant. Or simply start by writing down the steps for a task you do every day.
